Quest’esposizione si basa sulla premessa di un universo parallelo. Per la stagione autunnale, la galleria Alberta Pane è lieta di presentare nella sua sede veneziana The collection of Mr X, the man who lived 500 years, mostra collettiva curata da Joana P. R. Neves, con opere degli artisti Gabriela Albergaria, Kiluanji Kia Henda, Nicolás Robbio e João Vilhena. ll Signor X desidera rimanere anonimo. Tasse? Imprese losche? Umiltà? Spetterà allo spettatore indagare. Una delle sue caratteristiche più sorprendenti è la longevità: è nato nel 1519 e, molto stranamente, è vivo ancora oggi. Se Vita Sackville-West è stata l'ispirazione di Virginia Woolf per il personaggio di Orlando, sarebbe proprio il Signor X ad averne suggerito l'innaturale durata della vita. Infatti, benché non neghi né confermi questa voce, egli ricorda di essere stato invitato più volte alla residenza Woolf a Richmond. Il Signor X ha un rapporto molto forte con il Portogallo. La sua pelle è dorata e i suoi tratti richiamano l'Asia meridionale, motivo per cui alcuni pensano che provenga da Goa, una provincia dell'antico impero portoghese, e che sia forse figlio di un’indiana e di un portoghese. La sua attività, inoltre, è sempre stata legata al Portogallo e alle ex colonie. Fu durante uno dei suoi numerosi viaggi d’affari nel XVIII secolo che iniziò a collezionare dapprima curiosités e in seguito opere d'arte, soprattutto dipinti e sculture. In uno scambio di email con la curatrice (in data 12/3/2016), il Signor X afferma di aver potuto assistere all'evoluzione di "questo piccolo paese, in tutta la sua ingenuità, il suo coraggio e la sua bellezza". Il Signor X ha scritto una lettera a quattro artisti, le cui opere ha recentemente acquistato, chiedendo di scegliere un altro lavoro in vista di quest’esposizione.
